Overview
Cardiac tamponade is a clinical diagnosis, however chest X ray can be helpful sometimes. It will demonstrate pneumopericardium and cardiac silhouette changes.
X Ray
- X ray can very helpful for assessing outcome of treatment.
- however it is not the first choice for cardiac tomponade, after diagnosis is made the best option is to preform ultrasonography.
- It will show an enlarged globular-shaped heart .
- Due to pneumocardium (tension pneumopericardium) a substantial decrease in the size of the cardiac silhouette may be observed.[1][2]
